Today’s Ceilidhs are typically performed in a rural townhall, parish or community center.

Known as the “Kentucky of Canada” in many circles, visitors from around the world
visit PEI to experience the live events of harness racing. Races take place throughout the year at
Redshores tracks in both Summerside and Charlottetown.
Harness racing is a major part of our island heritage and to better experience it,
we recommend visiting in August during Old Home Week.
Expect nightly qualifying races, onsite amusement park and even a parade to ring
in this annual event. The week finishes with the popular Gold Cup & Saucer Race.

Live touring performances can be found at The Mack or Confederation Centre, both venues are within a 25 minute drive from BlackBush. The most popular music event is in July, where thousands flock to the Cavendish Beach Music Festival, a three day lineup of international Country Music acts.

One of the most storied and popular sports in PEI is ice hockey. Whether you’re here to compete in a tournament or staying in the summer to attend a hockey camp, BlackBush Resort is situated within driving distance of many ice rinks in the area.
The nearest rink is only 2km down the road from the resort in Grand Tracadie. UPEI, Simmons, Cody Banks and
Cornwall APM all within 20-25 mins drive..

The Shellfish Festival is an annual event held in Charlottetown during the month of September and features celebrity chefs, oyster shucking competitions, live cooking symposiums and even beach side clam bakes.
Another great event is the Tyne Valley Oyster Festival, which takes place late July into August.
Tyne Valley features the best in class seafood experience, it has been an annual celebration here since 1964.
Both these seafood culinary experiences are widely attended by foodies from around the world. Rest assured, Blackbush Hotel is a short drive to both Festival venues and events.
