An Eco-friendly Community
Guiding Principles for Sustainability

The Homesteads at Blackbush will be built and featured as an eco-friendly Community. The community will encourage and promote passive homes as well as eco-friendly designed residences.

A passive house is a voluntary standard for energy efficiency in a building, which reduces the building’s ecological footprint. It results in ultra-low energy buildings that require little energy for space heating or cooling.

The main objective of the Passive House design is to radically reduce energy use and to minimize the carbon footprint.

A passive house has excellent indoor air quality and is extremely quiet inside. Quality construction is required in order to meet the high standard for a Passive House including (1) airtight building structure, (2) thick insulated walls, (3) solid windows and doors, (4) circulating air from the central exchanger.
