Oyster Ice Fishing

WINTER OYSTER FISHING

Harvest Oysters through the Ice.

1 Season

1 – 6 persons
3-5 hour experience

Venture out on a frozen river, to a private oyster lease, cut a huge hole in the ice and dig out an Oyster catch.
You will be taught how to tong oysters, separate them, clean them, measure them and finally shuck them to eat.

There is usually a bonfire on the ice made for clients to keep warm and a fresh pot of steamed mussels made
to enjoy amongst the group… along with some Oystering story tales.

If you are looking to hit up some nearby trails, we have you covered! Blackbush Island Tidal Walk is a challenging 6 km trail at Tracadie Beach that leads you through some of the oldest and largest sand dunes in PEI National Park.

There are also local paths nearby that are accessible to wander. Robinson Island Loop (19 km away) is a 3.1 kilometer lightly trafficked trail located near Brackley Beach that offers glimpses of wildlife and is great for any skill level.

Winter River is also nearby (10km away) which features 4.3 kilometer trail loop which is lightly trafficked and rated as moderate. The trail is primarily used for hiking and trail running.

Another notable hike which is roughly 3.1 kilometers long is at Greenwich. This region is still part of Prince Edward Island National Park. It features a floating boardwalk and views of ocean dunes, wildlife and wetlands.
This trailhead is (55 km away) east of Blackbush Resort going towards Saint Peters Bay.

If you looking to go exploring during winter and get in some exercise, try visiting nearby trails with a pair of snowshoes.

There are many trails within the neighboring Prince Edward National Park as well as host of trails
at Brookvale Ski Area. ( 30 mins drive away)

Health and Wellness enthusiasts use this treatment for muscle recovery, depression and a therapeutic

Experience the rare thrill of hooking a White Perch…through a hole while ice fishing!
These fish can put up a good fight once you hook one on.

Booking can be arranged in advanced and the local Outfitter will have all the rods, lure, bait that’s required,
you just show up dressed with warm layers of attire. There is also a chance at eating your catch cooked right on the ice!

Peddle & Explore!

If you are looking to explore the nearby trails or cycle along the island roads our hotel
will be waiting for you post ride. A nearby excursion would bring riders to the wharf at Covehead.
Peddle your way along the coastal road for a stop in Richards Seafood for a lobster roll.

Rental bikes are available through the Outfitters Outpost.
