We know once you get here you’ll see what we mean by the only Island. The people who founded the Tracadie Harbour area knew it back in 1828. There’s a sense of a retreat the moment you head down the Harbour road and take in the natural woods, trails and dunescapes that characterize this one-of-a-kind place.
The above picture ‘A Whale Stranded In Tracadie Harbour, North Side Of P.E.I.’ was painted by Caroline Louisa Daly in 1858.
Our culture is a welcoming one… With it’s roots in the fishing and farming industries, Blackbush at Tracadie Harbour is home to the best natural tourism experiences Prince Edward Island has to offer. We love to play host and talk about the rich history of this pristine area.
Best Sustainable Practices
Tim Banks, the CEO of APM Group, appears in “Nature Stories,” a media campaign by the Nature Conservancy of Canada (NCC) that highlights the personal stories of donors and volunteers, their connection to nature and the reasons they support conservation. He has been involved with the NCC for more than 17 years as a donor and board member.
In this video, he recalls the joys of summers spent outdoors with his grandparents in P.E.I. and invites Islanders and Atlantic Canadians to help conserve the region’s special places by supporting the NCC. The Nature Conservancy of Canada has been working on Prince Edward Island since 1978. Here’s a link to the full information.
We also feel the responsibility that comes with maintaining what natural beauty we’re blessed with. In the Fall of 2018, we hosted a focus group made up of the faculty of the Department of Engineering and Sustainable Design at the University of Prince Edward Island. The team took a stroll to every corner of the property… from the inland woods and natural trails to the shoreline of the protected harbour that is only a short distance away from the National Park (Parks Canada).
Discussions included how to best provide drinking water, green energy systems all the while maintaining the surrounding natural habitats. We talked about many initiatives that would, in the end, create a true eco-resort area.
