Back in 2020 to further enhance our guiding principles for sustainability, we willingly removed our asphalt surfaces from our gate right down to where the pavement ends at our cottages. This is all a part of allowing fresh rain water to permeate into our water tables and not runoff into the Tracadie Bay. This coincides with our efforts to reroute our ditches to our wetlands so that our ground water is saved.
Island Water Technology has been johnny-on-the-spot with the development of new systems that take care of waste water at your home or in remote communities where that system can function on solar power.

The Blackbush Eco-Lodge and our Blackbush Community are pleased to announce Pat Sheehan as our Director of Construction. Pat will oversee construction and the other building trades of our eco-lodge, family homes and our all-season fractional units.

The Province of Prince Edward Island commissioned a federal study that shaped our “50 Year” dyke storm surge protection program at Blackbush. Here’s a link to the full study…
Squirt’s Cottage – Originally built in 1995 with large open living spaces for families and plenty of area for guest to sleep including 3 large bedrooms and two baths.
The “Bunkie” – Our on the water Administration Office and a Second floor living area with kitchen and third floor bedroom with full bath.
First new home at Blackbush finished & waiting for the Osprey family that were trying to build a nest on our old range light standard that was knocked over by Storm Dorian last fall… thanks to staff for enhancing our environment.
We’re working with the Department of Environment and have raised our pathways, removing the old ‘creosote’ boardwalks for environmental protection. We’re also creating a dyke system to enhance wetlands and provide a buffer zone for 50 year storm surge. Natural grass will align the pathways and they will be wheelchair friendly for the beach access.
